After weeks of preparation and numerous phone calls to border control offices we crossed over into Canada on July 4 and the Canadian officer asked us three questions: Where we were from: where we were going; and do we have any guns. When Bill said 'no' to the guns he asked again..are we sure we don't have any guns. He didn't look at our passports, licenses, dogs' health certificates, etc and he certainly didn't he show any interest in looking in the camper. I think it's still best, of course, to have everything in order and we haven't crossed back into the US yet, which we hear is more rigorous, but the border thing is definitely nothing worth stressing over.

Fraser River

Mim and I photographed this beautiful lake, Shuswap Lake, in a very arid part (near Kamloops, BC)of British Columbia. It reminded me of driving through parts of Utah and Wyoming though it certainly had it's own character. That day the thermometer reached 102 degrees. Phew.

We have stayed so far in Hope, Salmon Run, Revelstoke and Golden, BC. So far Revelstoke area is my favorite. We stayed in a campground in between Revelstoke and Glacier National Parks and explored those areas for 3 days, hiking in both parks and driving up to the summit of Mt. Revelstoke. Mim and I have particularly enjoyed photographing the wildflowers..they've been gorgeous. The weather was hot just that one day and has been warm but nice since then. Nights are cool and good sleeping. We had 'noseums' in Revelstoke but elsewhere just mosquitoes and a few black flies at night. It is the north country after all.
Below is a lake we passed on our way from Salmon Run to Revelstoke..it was such a beautiful morning.

This plant is Yellow Mountain Avens in it's fruiting stage which grows all over the place here.
